The Advantages of Buying a Garden Shed

Easy to purchase and assemble

If you want to purchase one of our products, you can easily do so online, or you can visit our display sites in Devon and Leeds. Our range of wooden garden sheds starts with 6×6 small garden sheds, followed by 8×6 and 10×8 medium sheds and finally 14×10 large garden sheds. Most of our storage sheds have double doors. For big-time gardeners, we have a few double sheds to offer. A double shed is a smart way to keep your garden equipment in order and find things quickly and easily. You can also use one part of the cabin as a storage shed and the other half as a workshop. We offer a wide variety of wooden sheds, but if you can’t find what you’re looking for, we’re happy to help you order a bespoke shed.

The Hansa Garden flat-pack log cabins are mostly one or two-day DIY projects that can be carried out by two adults using tools and assembly instructions, so building your own shed has never been easier. If you have some DIY experience, you can assemble your shed in a matter of days. Our garden sheds come with general assembly instructions detailing all the steps of the assembly. You will also receive a detailed product manual specific to your garden shed. If you have any questions regarding our products or the installation process, feel free to contact us. We are happy to help and we also offer assembly services.

Quicker than building your own shed from scratch

Building a wooden garden shed from scratch can be a difficult and time-consuming process. Even a 6×4 wooden shed DIY project can take weeks to complete. While building your own shed can be a rewarding experience, it can also be time-consuming and stressful. Unless you are an experienced carpenter, building a garden storage shed in two days is very unlikely. If you are looking for a quick solution, you’ve come to the right place! Our log cabin kits can be assembled at home by a DIY enthusiast, but we also offer assembly services. Our professional team can set up your garden log cabin within a day or two, so you’ll be able to enjoy your brand new log cabin shed, office, or hobby room soon after your purchase. Our products come securely wrapped in waterproof packing so you don’t have to worry about keeping them packed for a while until you are ready to build your log cabin.

Extra storage space

The need for extra storage space is a major incentive when it comes to buying a garden storage shed. Choosing a high-quality shed will allow you to keep your tools and equipment safe and secure without worrying about weather changes. If you are looking for a small wooden shed, you can opt for ‘Nora A Shed’, which makes a perfect workshop and storage log cabin. If, however, you prefer large garden sheds that can accommodate all of your hobbies and activities, you can check out our very popular ‘Double Garden Storage Shed Type B’ and ‘Double Shed Type C’.

Affordable prices

Most people reach our website because they have different questions about the prices of log cabins. Some people wonder what is the cheapest type of shed, how much garden sheds cost, and whether buying a garden shed is cheaper than building a log cabin from scratch. With prices starting from £4,000, our garden sheds are the easiest and cheapest option if you need garden storage shed ASAP.

It is important to mention that cheaper garden sheds usually have thin walls of 18mm, 19mm, and 28mm. The quantity of wood used to make a cabin represents 50-70% of the total cabin price. Our sheds have thick walls starting from 44mm, so our products may seem more expensive, but they are a better choice because thick walls make our sheds sturdier and stronger. While a very small 2×2 garden shed can be sturdy enough with 28mm walls, large garden sheds, like the ones that we offer, require thicker walls. Click here to learn what makes our garden sheds a better option.

Wooden garden sheds are durable

People always ask us how long a wooden shed lasts. With proper maintenance and treatment, our sheds can last for decades. And as mentioned above, garden sheds with thick 44mm walls are much more durable than those with thinner walls. Check our blog regularly to learn more about how to make a log cabin last longer.

How many sheds can I have in my garden?

There is no limit to the number of sheds you can have in your garden. However, not more than half the area of land around the “original house”* should be covered by additions or other buildings. In National Parks, the Broads, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and World Heritage Sites (Considered Designated Land), the maximum area to be covered by buildings, enclosures, containers and pools more than 20 metres from the house is limited to 10 square metres in total unless you seek planning permission.

*The term “original house” means the house as it was first built or as it stood on 1 July 1948 (if it was built before that date). Although you may not have built an extension to the house, a previous owner may have done so.

How to build a wooden shed?

Building a wooden shed consists of several important steps. First, you need to assess the available space, measure it, clear it, and level it. Then, you need to build a good proper wooden shed base. There are many suitable bases for wooden sheds, but Rapidpads base and concrete base are the most common ones among our UK customers. A concrete base is the most expensive and time-consuming type of foundation to prepare, but it is stable, long-lasting and probably the best possible base for a garden shed as it suits any size and type of garden building.

Rapidpads base on can be achieved for almost three times less budget compared to a concrete base. Since it is still a very stable and safe base for almost any type of wooden garden shed, Rapidpads are gaining huge popularity. Not sure how to build a wooden shed base? The Summerhouse24 assembly team can take care of the base, installation, insulation as well as certified electrical works.

Is it cheaper to buy or build your own shed?

While building a log cabin from scratch can be an interesting and rewarding project, it can only be done if you are a DIY expert. When trying to determine what option is more convenient, it is important to make a correct assessment of all the aspects involved such as materials, tools, time, and effort.

While building your own shed might be cheaper if you’re an experienced carpenter, it will still take a lot of time. When buying a prefabricated log cabin kit, you don’t have to worry about these aspects, so you get to save money on tools. Also, it is far less likely to make building mistakes because our products are designed by experts. A garden shed kit is created using a computer, so there is less room for errors and cutting mistakes. In garden shed kits, the cuts are very clean and precise. Furthermore, if you already know how to build a shed, assembling our kits will be a very easy task.

Our quick garden log cabin kits can be assembled in one or two days. So you will also save a lot of time and effort, and because our high-quality shed kits are designed without allowing any room for error, you might actually save money.

How to insulate a wooden shed?

Insulating a garden shed is important if you want your belongings to be protected from extreme temperatures. The easiest way to insulate a wooden shed is by adding the Floor and Roof Insulation Kit to your shopping cart. We offer insulation for all of our products and our assembly team will take care of the installation process.

What makes the best garden sheds?

The best garden storage sheds are made of slow-grown Nordic spruce which is the best material in terms of resistance and price. In addition to that, our garden sheds are designed by experts, so we don’t waste any materials. Our production process is 100% optimized allowing us to offer high-quality garden sheds. Our sheds have thick 44mm walls so, with proper care, a Nordic-quality wooden garden storage shed will last for decades.

How much are garden sheds?

Wondering what is the cheapest type of shed? At the moment, the cheapest small garden sheds that you’ll find on our website cost less than £5,000. These sheds include ‘Nora A’, ‘Lucas A’, ‘Eva A’, ‘Nora F’, ‘Eva F’, ‘Lucas F’ and ‘Jacob A’. The prices of our garden sheds will vary based on size, layout, wall thickness, and the number of windows and doors.

We don’t offer the cheapest products on the market because we only produce sheds starting from 44mm walls. This makes our sheds more expensive, but they are also of better quality, stronger and sturdier sheds. This is a conscious choice and we don’t want to compete with companies offering very cheap sheds.

44mm is the minimum thickness for walls that allows holes to be drilled into each wall plank. So we have holes in each garden shed wall plank through which metal rods are inserted (we refer to these rods as storm braces. See more from: https://summerhouse24.co.uk/our-advantages/). These rods make the walls and the whole cabin even stronger. And this is something that most competitors don’t offer – even for their bigger cabins.

Keeping your storage room in shape

Let’s revisit the fundamental rule of decluttering: If you come across items in your shed that haven’t been used in a year or, even worse, for several years, it’s time for them to go. The likelihood of using these items again is quite slim.

This decluttering rule applies to various items, including outgrown baby clothes and toys, old furniture that’s been gathering dust for years, outdated clothing, kitchenware, and pots and pans that may no longer be safe to use. Also, consider removing bedding and any memorabilia that no longer holds sentimental value for you. The idea is to create space and maintain safety while keeping only what is truly necessary or meaningful.
