Why Choose a Carport With Garage?

Selecting a wooden carport with a garage has several benefits. For starters, a steel carport will often have much thinner walls, which offer your carport garage less protection from the cold weather or extreme wind.

Unless you are willing to pay a lot, steel garages can sometimes be flimsy, and the metal structure offers a less sturdy base than wooden ones.

All of our wooden carports with a garage come with at least 44m wall thickness, and we only use slow-grown nordic spruce for our buildings, as it offers the most protection and stability.

Things to Consider When Choosing a Carport With Garage

When considering purchasing a carport with a garage, there are a few things you need to consider.

  1. How many cars are you planning to park in the carport?
  2. If only one, what will you use the other side for?
  3. Will there be space for your carport in your garden?
  4. Do you need planning permission for your wooden carport with a garage?

How many cars are you planning to park in the carport?

The first thing you should consider before purchasing your carport with a garage is how many vehicles you plan to park in it.

If you plan to park two, you might want to consider one of our carports with a garage door for easy access. However, the carports with garages with double doors will also allow you to park two cars, as the doors are wide enough for any vehicle.

If only one, what will you use the other side for?

If you decide you only want to park one vehicle under the carport area, you should consider how you want to use the garage aspect of your purchase.

There are so many options available to you! You could turn it into the home gym you have always dreamed of, use it as extra storage for garden equipment or children’s today, or even revamp it into a home office for the days you work from home.

Will there be space for your carport in your garden?

Before you make any purchase, you need to ensure space on your property for a carport with a garage.

While it might seem like you have plenty of room, these structures tend to be much larger than people anticipate, so take your time and measure out your space before committing to any purchase.

Do you need planning permission for your wooden carport with a garage?

Finally, you must consider whether your purchase requires planning permission. This will depend entirely on each personal circumstance but will be impacted by the same main aspects:

  • How big is the structure in comparison to your garden?
  • Where will the structure be placed in your garden?
  • How do you plan to use the structure?
  • Will it impact any of the surrounding properties?

Check out the rules in your local area and get confirmation before you make a purchase.

Can I have a carport with garage custom made?

While we offer a range of carports for you to choose from if you feel none meet your exact specifications, for example, a roof style or particular doors don’t work for you, we can create a complete custom high-quality carport with a garage for you.

Do you sell a one-car carport?

Our carports with garages can be used as a single car carport with additional enclosed space, which you can use in any way that suits you. Due to the walk-in door on the side of the building, you can use it for storage, a home gym, or several other uses.

Is a carport garage worth the investment?

When deciding between a wooden carport or metal building, a wooden carport with a garage is a much cheaper alternative than a metal garage.

However, it will still offer plenty of value to your property. A metal building is also much more challenging to take down and move if you buy a new use, and metal buildings can also have thinner walls, making them more susceptible to extreme weather.

Will your carports with a garage handle extreme weather like high winds?

Our carports are built with thick walls, double-glazed windows, and doors, and we only use the best quality wood to ensure it will not succumb to bad weather. We offer different roof styles, too, such as a diagonal or vertical roof, to handle water runoff and snow in the winter.
