It took about 3 to 4 weeks to complete. This isn’t a criticism but it did take longer than I expected.
I was very fortunate and had good weather for pretty much all of the build. My brother helped for the first two days where we got to the stage of having the roof trusses up. I then completed the rest alone working solidly for the first fortnight having time off work and then completed over successive weekends.
I painted it with 3 coats of Sikkens Paint, giving it a complete coat of the Cetol HLS Plus before I put the roof boards up and the windows in so I could get the inside edges coated.
I then fitted the roof boards, doors and windows and coated any remaining exterior bare wood with the Cetol HLS Plus.
I then fitted the shingles to the roof.
I then applied 2 coats of Cetol Filter 7 Plus to all the external wood.
I then treated the whole inside of the cabin with a Sadolins clear treatment.
I then fitted the door furniture.
In between times I painted the underside of the floor boards with the Sadolins.
I then fitted the inside floor boards and painted with a Deluxe diamond hard varnish. I also painted the skirting before I painted them to avoid having to cut in the paint.
Lastly I fitted the Decking boards and gave them 3 coats of Cetol HLS Plus.
There were other bits and pieces I did in different orders to aid the painting etc.
During the build I did the wiring which surprisingly took some time but obviously those were just extras that I wanted fitted.
Really really chuffed with the whole thing. Instructions could have been clearer but with some head scratching I was able to decipher them.
I’m very very sure it will bring my family, friends and I much enjoyment.
