When the team at Munchkins Nursery first envisioned their perfect new nursery for the littlest ones in their care, they dreamed of something special. The purpose was to create a space that would be more than just some walls and furniture; they imagined a cosy home away from home. This would be a place where children and babies as young as three months old would feel safe, warm and cared for. What they created exceeded even their own expectations.

One wall at a time

The dream started to take shape in the nursery garden, where the tots watched in wonder as their new cabin took shape. Day by day, the walls grew taller, and so did the excitement. 

“The children watched in awe as the walls got taller & taller,” shares Jo from the Munchkins team.

You could say that prefabricated log cabins can be built just like legos. All the pieces are cut to the right shape and size and even come with pre-drilled holes for screws. This makes assembly quick and easy in the hands of professionals. And, smaller cabins are perfectly suited for a do-it-yourself project.

A visit from the Mayor

In June, the cabin received its most distinguished visitor – the Mayor of Wivenhoe, who officially declared their beautiful new space open. But the real VIPs were yet to arrive: the toddlers and babies who would soon step into their second home.

Every detail matters

Inside this enchanting space, we find a thoughtfully curated world, that is crafted with care for the tiniest adventurers. Soft natural textiles meet calming earth tones, creating a perfect serene backdrop and balancing the childrens energetic presence.

The ball pit filled with sage green, gold, and pearl orbs is a wonderful sensory experience that children can’t wait to experience again and again. Meanwhile reading nooks and gentle play areas support other stages of development.

Munchkins Nursery’s new cabin features everything a growing baby needs: from peaceful sleeping spaces to engaging play areas designed to spark curiosity and growth. Natural wood elements throughout create warmth and connection to the outdoors, while carefully chosen toys and materials invite exploration and learning.

Home away from home

“The environment has been set up with purpose to support babies’ developments, and to ensure they feel home-to-home while they settle into the new environment,” explains the nursery team. And that intention shows in every corner – from the “Welcome to the Cabin” sign that greets families, to the thoughtful storage solutions that keep the space both beautiful and functional.

Since opening, the nursery has become exactly what it was meant to be – a bustling space filled with the sounds of contentment and discovery. The children here are free to explore, learn and grow at their own space, designed just for them and their needs.

“The cabin has been an absolute treat, and our babies are ever so happy!” beams the Munchkins team. Looking at the heartwarming photos they’ve sent in, it’s impossible not to share in the joy.
