Garden Room Sophia In Whimsical Stone Sheep Wonderland

12.08.2024

Have you ever counted sheep before bedtime and then proceeded to have a vivid dream about a society of sheep that dance, sing, have parades, a government and even have Lambhenge? If so, you might’ve visited the real-life Sheepville in your dreams.

Thanks to the versatility and durability of our garden rooms, they’re often used outside the home by different businesses, schools and sports clubs. One of our more interesting international clients is Sheepville Tourism Farm, located on the quaint island of Saaremaa in Estonia. Sheepville is populated by about 300 whimsical stone sheep. Each has its own personality and role in the intricate ‘political’ landscape of this not-so-woolly wonderland.

This quirky agritourism destination was dreamed up and brought to life by an Estonian politician named Mart Maastik. Inspired by his work and life, he first opened the ‘Sheep Parliament’ and ‘Sheep Parade’ to the public in 2022. As one might expect, there is no shortage of clever political humour, witty puns and creative flare in Sheepville.

Mart observed life and politics around the world and first got the idea to create his ‘Sheep Parliament’ consisting of 101 sheep over 15 years ago. After receiving positive feedback about the idea from the visiting head of the Estonian parliament in 2003, he finally decided to set things in stone – quite literally. But it wasn’t until 2021 when the sheep factory really got into gear. With help Mart created nearly 300 stone sheep in 3 years.

In 2024 Mart is as busy as ever creating the newest Sheepville attraction called Lambhenge in the middle of the surrounding beautiful three-hectare flower garden. This time the inspiration came from, of course, Stonehenge, which Mart visited in 2023. Once completed, we’ll make sure to add photos to this blog, so feel free to save the link and come back later.

If you plan on visiting Sheepville, you’ll be glad to hear that you can also stay there overnight. One of the more interesting options is to book a stay in the renovated wooden windmill with beautiful views of the surrounding areas.

So, if you’re looking for a baa-rilliant escape from a busy life and want to experience a slice of Estonian charm, Sheepville is the perfect place to visit. And, while collecting souvenirs and tickets, you’ll be under our most popular log cabin, Sophia – the perfect ticket office and resting spot for all your sheep-related escapades!
